Honeysuckle Scoring System

How scoring works

Honeysuckle Scoring handles the math, the timing, and the paperwork. You shoot.

Pistol & Rifle (ring-scored)

For NRA Conventional Bullseye, Smallbore, High Power, and Air Pistol/Rifle, scoring is shot-by-shot with X-ring tiebreakers.

  • Run a match with the timer: SF (10 min · 10 shots) → TF (2 × 20 s · 5 shots each) → RF (2 × 10 s · 5 shots each). Buzzer on commence and cease fire.
  • Tap each hole on the target overlay, or snap a photo and let auto-scoring read the holes.
  • String totals show as you score. Final card shows total-X, e.g. 285-12X.
  • Classifications (HM, M, EX, SS, MM) update from the rolling average as new matches land.

Action Pistol (timed)

For USPSA, IDPA, Steel Challenge, and ICORE, the score combines time and accuracy.

  • Hit Factor for USPSA: (points − penalties) / time. Per-stage normalization against the stage winner.
  • Time-plus for IDPA: raw stage time + per-hit penalty seconds. Lower wins.
  • Time-only for Steel Challenge: 5 runs per stage, drop the slowest, sum the rest. Eight stock stages, classified per stage per division.
  • Penalties (no-shoots, procedurals, failure-to-engage) tracked as their own row, not lumped into shot scores.

Shotgun (per-target hit/miss)

For Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, and 5-Stand.

  • Trap: 25 targets per round, one shot per clay, scored as hit / miss. Track handicap distance (16 to 27 yards) per round.
  • Skeet: Stations 1–8, 25 targets per round across high-house, low-house, and doubles. Per-station hit map.
  • Sporting Clays: 10–15 stations, variable target counts per station, total out of round size (typically 50 or 100).
  • 5-Stand: 25 targets, one stand at a time, mix of presentations.
  • Round totals roll up to season averages. Long runs (consecutive hits) tracked automatically.

Silhouette (knockdown)

For NRA Pistol & Rifle Silhouette and IHMSA.

  • 40 targets across 4 banks: chickens, pigs, turkeys, rams.
  • Binary hit/miss per target, knockdown scoring.
  • Per-bank totals plus 4-bank match total out of 40.

What you don't have to do

  • No paper scorecards.
  • No spreadsheet at the end of the night.
